Dr Anjalee Cohen, Research Fellow
Anjalee Cohen is a research fellow of the Brain and Mind Research Institute. She completed a PhD in Anthropology at Macquarie University, Sydney, in 2006. Her ethnographic PhD research explored youth culture and identity in northern Thailand, focusing particularly on methamphetamine use and gang violence. Anjalee is now the lead qualitative researcher for the new National Youth Mental Health Foundation's Community Awareness Program, led by the BMRI. Her interest in youth mental health and drug and alcohol issues stems from her PhD research, as well as her work at the Academic Department of Psychiatry of the University of New South Wales, which involved assistance on a national depression project, SPHERE. She is also the lead researcher and coordinator of BMRI's current youth social participation project, which aims to explore the effects of participation in a theatre production on the health and well-being of young people with a mental illness.

Ms Andrea Fogarty, Research Officer
Andrea is a Research Officer at the Brain & Mind Research Institute, The University of Sydney. Her academic background is in Psychology and International Public Health and her research interests include mental health promotion, service reform in the mental health sector and the provision of public health services in developing countries or resource poor regions. She began her career in HIV/AIDS social research, including longitudinal behavioural surveillance of sexual practice, treatment choices and accessing services among people living with HIV/AIDS. She gained extensive experience working with community-based HIV/AIDS organisations, encouraging reflexive-practice between research findings and health promotion and education programs. At the BMRI she currently works in the area of population mental health and is responsible for quantitative data analysis on numerous studies. She is also assisting to coordinate a national community awareness campaign being conducted by the BMRI on behalf of headspace the new National Youth Mental Health Foundation.

Ms Phoebe Carter – BA (Psych), Post Grad. Dip. Sci.(Psychology)
Phoebe Carter is a research officer working for the Brain and Mind Research Institute. Phoebe conducts quantitative research in the youth mental health area and is involved in the evaluation of experiences of care. Phoebe also conducts research in early intervention for cognitive decline and dementia. Specifically, Phoebe assists in the publication and dissemination of results, and the review of current mental health literature. Phoebe has experience in assessing and counselling young people with a range of psychological issues such as: depression and self-harm & anxiety, and is currently involved in the facilitation of social-anxiety groups at the Brain and Mind Research Institute.

Ms Morag Bell, Research Assistant
Morag recently completed her BA with Honours in Psychology at the University of Sydney. She now works as a Research Assistant at the Brain & Mind Research Institute, University of Sydney. Her interests include the Philosophy of Psychology and the translation and implementation of psychological theory and research into clinical, therapeutic and social settings.

Mr Django White, Research Assistant
Django White is a Research Assistant involved in mental health programmes involving organisations such as headspace, Rotary and beyondblue. He assists with the Community Awareness project as well as in our BMRI Clinical Centre.
